Just playin' around in Adobe Photoshop 6.0.1, and made a really KICK-ASS still flaming font effect. Here are some examples:

First, for your infinite amusement, I will show you my first attempt at doing this (don't laugh!!):

Yeah, looks bad doesn't it? Well, guess what? I made ANOTHER one, but this time I started in Greyscale instead of RGB color and:
